Helsbury Park Photo Competition 2007 / Entry 1

Thank you to Sam and Matt Farr for these great shots of their dog Rosa enjoying her time at Helsbury. This is a great series of shots which sum up a week at Helsbury beautifully.

^^^Rosa at the dog friendly Old Inn in nearby St Breward hoping for some scraps, who could resist?

^^^And then burning off the extra food on the beach at Daymer Bay.

^^^I think we can all guess what she's thinking here! Bad girl Rosa ;o)

^^^And like every dog who leaves Helsbury - it's never a happy time! Never mind Rosa, we hope we'll see you again soon.

And as dog friendly people ourselves we are extremely pleased to be the sole sponsor of the event. Robert Alleyne from BBC's Dog Borstal is the judge and there are lots of prizes and stalls. WINNERS: Helsbury Photo Competiton

Thanks to everyone who voted in our photo competition, the votes have all been counted and we have our winners.

In the Helsbury Dogs category the winner is Tony Madge, this lovely shot was taken down in the water meadow at Helsbury. He was the clear winner in this category and said "We were very surprised and really pleased to win this fantastic prize, the other photographs were excellent and anyone voting must have had a hard task. However we are delighted to have the chance to return to Helsbury Park as I can say on behalf of the "four legged" members of our family it is a brilliant place to go, we stayed at the Broadview Cottage and having the use of the paddock was a big bonus, the walks on the estate proved intriguing for us as well as the dogs. Overall I can say this is not only a superb place to holiday for dogs, we humans also had great time with superb accommodation and excellent amenities."

In the Cornwall Dogs category Helen Field won out in a much tighter vote. Helen took this lovely shot of her dog at Daymer Bay, one of our visitors favourite destinations. she said: "I am absolutely delighted and chuffed to bits, the boys are delighted too, they just love the beaches of Cornwall."

The 2008 competition is now running, so please email us your images as soon as you go.

Looking for a walk suitable for all the family?

Visit www.nationaltrail.co.uk/southwestcoastpath for easy-access coastal walks along fairly flat paths that are at least 2’6” wide, have a minimal cross camber, and no steps or stiles. So far twelve easy-access walks have been added covering all areas of the Coast Path and more will be added in future.

A detailed map and description of each one with photographs illustrating the nature of the walk can be printed from the website. Variations in gradients, camber and path surface, as well as the width of any gates are all noted so that people can make their own minds up about whether the walk is suitable for them.

The walk descriptions have been developed by the South West Coast Path Team, led by Ros Love who said ‘I am delighted that we have been able to provide this information for those people who may not find it easy to use all parts of the Coast Path. I hope that the easy-access walks will help and encourage many more people to discover the stunning coastline of the south west. These are Coast Path walks that people of all abilities can enjoy together.’

The easy-access walks are an addition to the existing online library of over 50 Coast Path walks of varying length and difficulty in all parts of the region. Something for everyone – the South West Coast Path National Trail.
