Top 10 Dog Friendly Beaches

Recently featured in Coast magazine’s top 10 dog friendly beaches is Penhale Sands at Perranporth. This three mile stretch of sand, famed for its clean water and surf, is a great spot and even has its own dog friendly pub , The Watering Hole, nearby too. Dogs have to be on leads in height of summer but otherwise you have the run of the place. Just in case you need a change from Daymer Bay, our number 1 dog friendly beach, which thankfully didn’t make it into the magazine – well we don’t want just anyone going there now do we?

Sustainable Tourism

In an effort to move towards a sustainable model for the way Helsbury runs we’re trialling solar panels for heating our hot water in the Farmhouse. If it proves successful we’ll look to roll it out in the barns and at Broadview too. As Cornwall’s heavily reliant on oil as a fuel source this looks like a good way to go. Look out for the new recycling centres which are coming soon too and if you receive our enewsletter we'll be asking you to take part in a survey about the whole subject soon, with a chance to win a £250 Helsbury voucher to boot!

Solly’s settling in...

Well we’ve had Solomon here for about a month now and he’s settling in well. As a puppy he’s obviously extremely inquisitive and busy but he seems to be coping with life at Helsbury. We’re trying a bit of ‘dog listening’ to get him under control, early stages are quite hard but we’re hoping for good things. Lottie find's him extremely amusing but he's growing so fast that she may be surprised at how quickly he overtakes her!

Visitors Book 005

A great way to start the new year. Week went far too quickly though, we still have lots to see. Cardinham Woods makes a nice change from the beach, great cafe with a fire to relax after an exhausting walk. Delighted with the barn, even better than expected. We have never holidayed with the dogs before but would certainly do it again, don’t know who’s more disappointed that we’re going home, us or the dogs!”
