Helsbury Park Dog Photo Competition 2008/09 Entry 1

Aimee Cinderby sent us these shots of their lovely dobermans enjoying Helsbury [despite some freak weather conditions]. Amy said “we just wanted to thank you for an absolutely brilliant holiday, it is the best dog friendly cottage we have been too.” We love the shot of the dogs taking on our cross country course, fabulous!

Evenings are drawing out...

Some lovely evenings are in store now that the days are getting longer, with the sounds of the newly born lambs and shoots and buds everywhere the feeling here at Helsbury is definitely a positive one. Time to order the new barbecues me thinks!

And talking of sustainability...

After we ran our very successful survey on sustainable tourism earlier in the year we were invited to the COAST conference to present the results, the findings were extremely interesting and we’ll be building the results into our ongoing strategy for the development of Helsbury as a sustainable tourism business. We'll also publish them on this blog for your reference. If you’d like more information on sustainable tourism the COAST web site has all the answers.

From little acorns...

OK, not acorns but seeds of all descriptions, we’ve recently finished the installation of a vegetable garden here at Helsbury. The intention is to grow enough veg for the whole site to be able to consume. This is one of our major steps towards sustainability.

And then there were 6...7...8...9...

Lecky was getting lonely so we’ve got him a companion horse, a bay gelding called Wills, he came from Devon to join us here at Helsbury. He’s settling in nicely and trying to put a dent in the lovely spring grass. They’ll be joined by a Pony next week who’ll keep them both in order, and we’ve just introduced a pair of Silky Bantams as well. The menagerie is growing, next on the list is some ducks, after that we’ll take a little rest before we get carried away!

Solly Update...

Our new dog Solly is certainly living up to his billing and being an inquisitive and lively puppy! We’ve only had to fetch him out of the muck heap on a couple of occasions, he’s eaten 3 of Lotties crayons [and you don’t want to see the results of that] and has chewed his way through the bars of his wooden pen. Let’s put it this way he’s keeping us on our toes!

New at Helsbury: Dog Travel Water and Food Bowls

Ready for the summer we’ve put 2 of these really useful products in each of the cottages. You can use them on your trips out to take a bowl of water and food with you for your dog. They’re dishwasher proof and ideal for days out.

Stop me if its getting boring...

I just can't resist these Cornish Dawns!

Lottie's first job...

No point mucking about, Lotties helping with mucking out! Well she is walking and its about time she earned her keep, here she is helping Mummy in the tack room.

Recycling Centre Launched...

Well we finally got there, phase 1 of our drive towards sustainability was the installation of solar panels, and now we have our first recycling centre. Guests are being asked to sort their refuse into 6 different categories which makes it easier for us to recycle it locally.

Spring has Sprung!

Well, the daffs are out anyway, the sun's been shining for most of Feb and it has been most welcome, lets wait and see what March has in store!

Next on the list is a pic of a lamb and then we know we're there!
