News from Shona Moon, our Dog Listener...

Another Easter approaches and I do not know where time has gone. Helsbury Park is my idea of Dog Heaven and I have the privilege to come and visit throughout the year. I first met David and Leza when they asked me to come and see their delightful lurcher puppy Solomon~ since then David and Leza have welcomed me into Helsbury Park to help clients and their dogs.

The past year has been a busy and enjoyable one. I've met some lovely people visiting Helsbury Park and as always some wonderful dogs. During each session I work with you and your dog and give you a canine view of the world. Once people understand why their dog is behaving as they are then moving forward is so much easier. I remember the Towers family and their beautiful Black Labrador Jonson. The family were concerned because he did not seem able to relax and was always following them around. He pulled on the lead and as he was a strong dog this was becoming a big problem. I spent 2 hours with them and the very good looking Jonson. He did do well and Mr Towers was kind enough to send me an update when he got home:

“Jonson now is a much better behaved dog, your golden 5 minute rule really worked for him, also his food manners are much better, but the most improvement is in himself. He is now much calmer and doesn't worry as much. Also I have been taking him for obedience classes and he has passed his bronze award already, I am continuing for his silver award. Thanks again”

I offer back up once you return home and always love to hear how you progress. As I write this it is a beautiful spring day and I'm looking forward to meeting some new people and helping them with their dogs. If you would like to book an appointment please feel free to call me on 01208 812677 or visit my web site http://www.cometoheal.co.uk/

Happy holidays and for those who are visiting Helsbury Park for the first time I can assure you, you won't want to leave.

Hope to meet you soon

RSPB Garden Watch Results

The results of the Big Garden Watch have been released which we, at Helsbury Park, were proud to be part of. Well over half a million people celebrated the 30th year of the Birdwacth, making this the biggest bird survey in the world. A huge increase from humble beginnings in 1979 when just 30,000 children took part. For the first time in the survey's 30-year history, the long-tailed tit has flown into the Big Garden Birdwatch top ten. This highly sociable species increased by an astonishing 88% from last years count. This pleasant increase is because this insect-eating bird has adapted to feeding on seeds and peanuts at birdtables and from hanging feeders. This result highlights perfectly the positive impact that our feeding and bird care can have on some birds. For more details click here.

Cottage Comparison

To make it easier to choose from all our wonderful cottages we've created an easy guide to the key difference between them. It's already part of our new brochure but you can also download it from here and from our cottage pages as a quick reference.

Life's a beach...

Who said ‘Life’s a Beach’? The phrase is trotted out regularly in the press but here in North Cornwall it really is true. Ask people to describe their perfect day at the beach and you’ll probably get many different answers. That' s not a problem around here, there is a beach for everyone and a beach for all seasons.

If a wide expanse of golden sand is your thing try Harlyn or Widemouth Bay, for cosmopolitan people watching there’s Rock or if you want to escape the crowds Bossiny may be your Haven. On the other hand if you want to learn an exhilarating new sport Watergate Bay is the place to go while Crackington Haven will keep rock-poolers happy for hours. Polzeath has a little something for everyone and Daymer Bay is voted dog-friendliest by our guests on a regular basis. There are sand dunes to slide down at Constantine or just sit on high at the Port William Inn and look down on the action at Trebarwith Strand with a drink and some excellent food.

For more information on individual beaches to help plan your personal surf safari try www.cornwallbeachguide.co.uk.

Our new interactive brochure...

Check out our new brochure, it's only available as a pdf so we can save some trees, but it does have embedded links in it which interact directly with our web site so it's an ideal way to find out more about Helsbury. You can download by clicking this link.

We're also able to update it really easily so we'll keep you up to date if we make any changes, we'll be adding some more information about the pool soon!

Driving with Dogs...

The brilliant new website gives full directions to a dog walk, and dog friendly pub or cafĂ©, within 5 miles of all UK motorway exits. This means that you can arrive with a relaxed and happy dog, as well as breaking their journey to Cornwall with some healthy walking! Driving with Dogs has been created by two people and a border collie, who've tried and tested all the 400+ walks on the site. The M5 is fully ‘walked’ and is ideal for you to use on your way to Helsbury.
